“Phoebe” – a love story

“Phoebe” – a love story

The Country song “Phoebe” came about from the bringing together of a poem and a tune.

Dave Pearce, a Country music lover from Wiltshire, UK contacted me recently about using the lyric from his poem that he had written about his late wife Phoebe and sing it as a Country song.

I had a couple of melodies at that time so I put one of them with Dave’s lyric and they seemed to fit perfectly.

We met at Pete Lamb’s studio in Potterne, Wilts and recorded with vocal and acoustic guitar. Then added bass and lead guitar (care of Pete) and a little pedal steel (Micky Wareham).

At the same session we made another recording, I used the other melody I had with Dave’s other poem about his older brother Mike, who was taken to the U. S. A. as a boy.

Another story, another song.

Saddlebag of Birdsong

Saddlebag of Birdsong

This is an album of my latest Country songs, written and recorded just for the love of it.

Country music is a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but to me it’s a vehicle to drive home a feeling in a song and that’s good enough.

Keith’s Country Satellite Review on Country Music People

Keith’s Country Satellite Review on Country Music People

“After going through about twenty CDs these six tracks were arguably the most country and this one was one the CDs I enjoyed most.

“It turned out Keith Mouland can write a pretty decent countrty song and his vocals have a nice, lived-in yet tuneful quality.”

Thank you CMP.

Drinking my way over you (new release)

Drinking my way over you (new release)

I wrote this song after an all day gig at a beer festival with my old band.

While cashing in my own beer tokens I noticed as the day went on how the conversations in the bar turned to the subject of lost loves and how drinking seems to help you through it.

This was a popular song in the Country clubs as well.

This is the first of my Country singles that I hope to release soon.

Thanks to Ethem for the video!

Norwegian country band, covered three of my songs

I flew the flag for European Country music when CAPT. KANE & BIG TROUBLE, a great Norwegian Country band, covered three of my songs.

Flying High, Keep On and Cross My Heart on their 2010 release Big Trouble.

A lot of the album was recorded in Nashville with some top session players on there as additional musicians:

Americana International Festival, Newark

Americana International Festival, Newark

The crew at the Americana International Festival at Newark, invited ma along to play the singer/songwriter stage in 2007.

As you can see from this photo the main stage is a big place but it still felt kind of intimate due to the great PA sound.

Plenty of people liked my set of five of my songs, I sold CD’s on the day, checked out the merchandise on sale and of course all the Americana.
