Take me back to the country

Written by Keith Mouland

Take me back to the country, let me fly like a bird in the sky
Play me something from the heart, I don’t need much, I can travel light
Like the ones that went before me, with just a song in their life
Take me back to the country, it’s my home, it lays easy on my mind

Take me back to the country, yes I know, it’s got a life of it’s own
Well I need it more than it needs me, it will be here after I’ve been and gone
Sometimes I think about the way I can help it along
Take me back to the country in the last rays of that setting sun

It lives in my memory, it lives in my heart
It’s all of creation and it’s just a little part

Take me back to the country, let your spirit meet mine my friend
Where the morning sends a shiver to your soul when the world spins round again
Where everybody is a singer and they all listen to the song
Take me back to the country now why don’t you all come along
Why don’t you all come along?
